Victorian Hairstyles

When discussing and also looking at victorian hairstyles it became evident that a lot of them included middle partings and when in our practical we had the choice between plaiting the front of the hair and curling it. I chose to plait it as I felt that that kind of hairstyle is something I'm not used to creating as it is rare for someone to want their ears to be on show and with the plait they are almost framed by the hair to make them stand out more. I feel when looking back at the images I took that I was able to capture the hairstyle that a lot of women wore. However when creating this hairstyle as my model as a particular parting on one of the sides the hair didn't fall as naturally and didn't look as effective as the other side which when working on this hairstyle is something I need to think about whether that is me using a gel to stick it down or to try curling it instead of plaiting it.
Looking back at this hairstyle I can see that the sectioning didn't go as well as it could have so if I was to improve this I would focus on the sectioning and the bun comes out too much I should have secured it more and used more clips to shape it better. Also due to my models hair not having a natural middle parting one of the sides didn't lay flat which stopped the plait on the left side from framing the ear. This hairstyle wouldn't fit well with my character as my characters hair needs to be curly and more princess like.
