Late 19th Century Hair

To start it is important to put the hair into a centre part in with the pin tail comb then section the hair in front of the ears and split both of them sections into two. Then wrap one of the smaller sections from the top section landscape and repeat for the second part of this section. Then move onto the next section and wrap one of the smaller sections portrait using the pointy part of the pin tail comb to tuck away any of the fly aways. Then repeat with the next part of this section.

Now section the back part of the hair from behind the ears into 3 sections with the bottom section having less hair. Tie the first two sections up separately so that you can curl them and add height to the hair style. Ensure that you are creating period curls as other curls wont be relevant for this hairstyle. Now that both sections are curled you could plait and clip the top section to clip the separate curls to add more to the hairstyle. Once the top section of curls are clipped and placed where you want them to be repeat that step with the next section remembering that you can have curls hanging down as it blends easier with the bottom section and it looks nice when some of the curls are left down as it gives the hairstyle more length and makes it look more subtle and feminine.
With this I feel the main thing I struggled with was where to place everything because having the two different sections meant there was a line so I had to place the hair over that so it wasn't visible. To improve I would make the line between the sections more subtle by creating a zig zag section as I could hide it easier. I feel this hairstyle would be perfect for my character Sibyl for the Continuity assessments as she is like a princess and is the kind of character that would always quite put together.
