To start off you need to trim the wound to make sure it is the right size for when you want to apply it. It is important to remember to keep the wound small as you you build it up with the fake blood and colour but if you apply a big wound then it can look unrealistic which isn't the look your going for. Also when trimming the wound, straight lines pic up easier so it is more effective to make the lines more wiggly so that you can blend it out more smoothly and easily. To prepare the skin and the wound add the glue using a baby bud and cover the surface with the glue right up to the edges. Put the glue where you want the wound to be and ensure that when you are done with the glue that you put the lid back on as the glue will dry up which will stop it from being as effective.
When the glue is nearly clear apply the wound to the part of skin with the glue then press it into the skin to ensure that it is stuck properly.
Then using the Witch Hazel and a cotton bud rub away from the wound to smooth out the edges which could take a while so it is important to stay patient to avoid giving up. Then powder the wound to see if you need to colour the would to fit with the models skin tone.
Then to colour use the Supra colour Kryolan palette mixed with moisturiser as it is easier to build up then going in with just the colour. With my wound I felt it didn't look complete to I added fake blood around the edges of the wound where I had struggled to blend them out as the wound would just break away. Despite this I feel I was able to save the would and make it look effective even though it didn't look like I'd be able to.
Whilst creating this would there was many opportunities where I was ready to give up as when I was trying to blend the edges out it just broke away and didn't blend at all but I decided to stick it out as it was the first time using moulds to make wounds and I wasn't going to be perfect at it. Looking at the images from this practical I feel I was able to save it and make it look realistic and effective which why it is important to not give up no matter how frustrating something is.
Health and safety
When removing the mould it is important to be careful as its lightly glued and if its on a place where there are hairs as it can hurt removing it.
